Battery Modelling for Industrial Applications Symposium – Wednesday 24th September 2014 – WMG, International Digital Laboratory – Warwick

Claytex will be exhibiting and presenting at the Battery Modelling for Industrial Applications Symposium:

A Modelica Library for Simulation and Optimisation of a Rapid Charging Method for Lithium based Batteries in EV System Level Applications’

The advent of electric vehicles (EVs) is considered to be one of the most promising technological advancements to decarbonise our road transport. However, the realisation and sustainability of this technology demands a Rapid Charging Technique for its batteries, in order to substantially reduce the long charging hours required by the conventional chargers. Due to non-linear and non-stationary characteristics of the EV battery under various operating conditions, it is essential to develop a multi-physics model based simulation and optimisation technique, initially to understand the battery’s charge/discharge characteristics, and then to optimise the battery charging process with respect to a selected set of operating conditions without degrading the battery pack extensively.

The symposium is designed to engage industry and academia in a discussion on the methods for modelling battery cells, modules, packs and systems focusing on models for understanding behaviour in applications.
