ClaRa+ Library
Create a digital twin of your power plant, investigate transient behaviour and gain greater understanding to optimise your processes for use in the future energy market. Use ClaRa+ to support all project phases from evaluation of concept variants to component design, optimisation of control technology, virtual commissioning and optimisation during operation.
ClaRa+ models the transient, thermal behaviour of power plants and power systems. The library covers the modular description of all components of the water-steam cycle and the gas path of coal dust fired boilers and heat recovery steam generators.
Significant changes in world’s energy markets come with new challenges for existing and new power plants. Conventional and disposable units have to be more flexible to balance fluctuations from the renewables. The ClaRa+ library was already applied successfully in first commercial industry-related projects and offers the opportunity to gain problem-specific solutions using tailored system models of different levels of detail.
Optimization of:
- Steam generators
- Water-steam cycles
- Process transients
- Component design
- Co-generation power plant analysis
- Combined cycle power plants
- Performance analysis of transmission networks
The library is made of several packages:
- The Examples package contains system examples from steam and organic rankine cycles to complete steam power plants.
- The StaticCycles package provides components to be able to conveniently calculate the steady state conditions that can be used to initialise the dynamic system.
The machine models extend the MSL electric machine models and add necessary in- and outputs for controlling the machine. - The Visualisation package provides several visualisation objects that can be utilised within the diagram layer to display variables of interest as the model runs or the simulation is played back.
- The Components package contains a range of fluid classes from boundary conditions to turbo-machinery, valves, heat exchangers, furnaces, mills, as well as electrical components used to represent the electrical systems within the plant.
- Coal fired power plants
- Gas turbine units
- Combined cycle power plants
- Heat recovery steam generators
- Co-generation power plants
- Organic Rankine Cycles
- Grid emergency failures
- Island grid operation
