New Features in Dymola 2019


Dymola 2019 is now out and there are many new features that have been added to this new release. More information on these can be found in the official Dymola 2019 Release Notes.

  • DAE mode for more efficient simulation of large models
  • Improved initial guesses for equations in the model during simulation
  • New features for debugging initialization failures
  • Improved nonlinear solver diagnostics
  • Capturing parameter values and other modifiers by extending a component to a new model, or by creating a favorite model from a component
  • Filtering of inherited components in the diagram layer of editable models
  • Improved plotting of Boolean and short Integer arrays in the matrix editor
  • Presentation of display units in the diagram layer
  • Improved presentation of display units in the parameter dialog
  • Customization of the File > Libraries menu
  • Possibility to add variables to bus declarations when connecting expandable connectors
  • Variable browser improvements:
    – Selecting display units
    – Improved filtering
  • Plot improvements
    – Signal operators for curves plotted against independent variables other than time
    – Improved presentation of display units
  • Support for Visual Studio 2017 compiler

Improved FMI support:


  • Reorganization of simulation setup dialog for FMI

FMU Export:

  • Defining user-defined model identifiers for FMUs in GUI when exporting
  • Sparse Jacobian handling when including source code supported
  • Sparse solver support
  • Export of models in DAE mode
  • More GUI settings available as flags for scripting

FMU Import:

  • More GUI settings available as flags for scripting

FMI Kit for Simulink:

  • A new version 2.4.2 with support for Matlab R2017a and R2017b, and other improvements
  • Sparse Jacobian handling supported for Source Code Generation
  • New document: Dymola Referential
