Claytex MD Mike Dempsey has explained some of the mysteries behind Formula 1 car design and performance to an audience at the 2010 Dassault Systemes European Customer Forum.
The presentation, Applications of Multi-Physics Modeling for Systems Development in Formula 1, underlined why most F1 teams rely on Dymola. Leading motorsport teams throughout Europe and America also use it to stay ahead of the pack. No other modelling and simulation solution approaches its power, flexibility and real-time performance.
Tom Leeson, marketing manager for UK and Ireland at Dassault Systèmes, gave the presentation “ten out of ten.”
“Mike showed how the technology has moved way beyond 3D modelling,” he said. “We can now model the performance of a virtual racing car even before it’s built. We can contribute to real life, even before it’s become real life.
“Formula 1 has always been at the forefront of this kind of cutting-edge technology. The challenge is now to roll it out to areas such as retailing.”
The European Customer Forum is the main annual event for the Dassault Systèmes community. This year, for the first time, all DS brands were featured: CATIA, SIMULIA, DELMIA, ENOVIA, 3DVIA and SolidWorks. Over 1,200 delegates attended the event, held at Disneyland Paris on 23-24 November.
