Meet with Claytex

On our stand, we will be showcasing how rFpro and Dymola can be used to support the development of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and autonomous cars. We will have a driving simulator that uses a Dymola vehicle model and rFpro demonstrating this capability. Using rFpro to provide the virtual test environment we can support driver-in-the-loop and provide data feeds to the array of sensors (cameras, LiDAR, radar and ultrasound) all based off the same high-fidelity track model.

Virtual Development of Complex Systems – Main Auditorium, 1.30pm

Abstract:

We all recognise that the complexity of today’s products is increasing at a rapid rate with almost every aspect of a product’s behaviour now being computer controlled and the IoT advancements placing even more demands on the system.  These increases in complexity are being introduced at the same time as the development cycles are being shortened and the number of prototypes being built are reduced.  This requires a new approach to the development and validation of these complex systems and the adoption of a virtual development process.

This presentation will explore the toolchain available to enable the virtual development of complex systems.  The 3DEXPERIENCE platform, as well as the standalone tool Dymola, from Dassault Systemes support the open standards of Modelica and FMI.  Using the Modelica modelling language the complete physical model can be created using an equation based approach that promotes extensive reuse of models.  FMI is an open standard for model exchange, therefore support for FMI means that models from suppliers can be supplied as compiled code and imported to form part of the full system model.

For Automotive manufacturers, the challenges are coming from the electrification of the vehicle (either as a hybrid or full electric vehicle); the development of the connected car; and the push towards full level 5 autonomy.  In this context, we need to be able to simulate a complex multi-domain physical system covering mechanics, fluids, thermal and electrical systems and to couple with these the associated control systems.  We then need to test the complete system in a huge range of different scenarios to make sure that it always behaves as required.

Virtual environments like rFpro can be used to immerse the complete system model into a virtual environment.  These environments allow us to interact and experience the virtual prototype using Driver-in-the-Loop simulators and the same systems can immerse the autonomous systems into the virtual environment.
