Dymola Pneumatics Library
Dymola and the Pneumatics library allow you to verify and optimize the design of your complete pneumatic system from early design phases to production. Contrary to special-purpose tools for the same type of simulations, the Pneumatics library has an open, object-oriented architecture so that all models can be inspected as source code in Modelica and customized to fit the individual user’s needs.
Users can connect components freely as they desire, which makes it is easy to realize non-standard configurations. The library models are based on extensive literature research, several years of experience and validation in research applications and industrial projects. The models can also be used for real-time and hardware-in-the-loop applications.
The Pneumatics library (PneuLib) is a powerful yet simple-to-use tool for the modeling of pneumatic systems. Applications include automotive suspensions and brake systems, machine tools, and jackhammers. There is a seamless integration of the Pneumatics library with other Dymola libraries, see for example the model of the multi-position cylinder below.
The pneumatics library provides basic model classes for the modeling of cylinders and motors, valves and nozzles, lumped volumes, lines and sensors. For standard applications these classes cover all needed components. If, however, specially designed components are used these can be easily modeled by modifying library components. All relevant effects are available as sub-models.
The modeling concept allows pneumatic components to be connected in an arbitrary way, e.g. in series or in parallel, just by drawing connection lines, no special components for splits or mergers are required. The library includes examples to demonstrate the usage of the components.
