Applications

Our systems engineering solutions and services are applicable across a wide range of industries and technologies. Dymola is based on the Modelica modelling language with application libraries covering many different engineering domains such as mechanics, 1D thermofluids, electrical and control systems. These are applied by Claytex and our customers to many different industrial and academic applications.

Automotive
Image of automotive systemsDymola solutions for the Automotive Industry cover all aspects of vehicle systems engineering and is used by manufacturers and suppliers.

Applications include Powertrain, Vehicle Dynamics, Electrical, Air-Conditioning and Control system development. The focus is on providing high quality physical models of the complete system to support hardware specification and control system design and calibration.

Aerospace
Aircraft on landing approachWithin the Aerospace Industry, Dymola is being used extensively to model Electrical, Hydraulic, Mechanical and 1D Thermofluid systems.

Applications include landing systems, cabin environmental controls and the electrification of aircraft systems. The focus is on using the physical models to understand the behaviour and failure modes of the systems to ensure the safe operation of the aircraft under all conditons.

Energy
Power station and wind turbineThe Energy sector covers a very diverse range of technologies from fossil fuelled and nuclear power stations to a wide range of renewable technologies such as wind and tidal power through to fuel cell systems.

Dymola is used in all of these different areas to model the complete systems including the distribution grid as well as the actual power generation technology. The multi-physics approach offered by Dymola enables the electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems to be integrated with the control systems to optimise the performance of the whole system.

Motorsport
Open wheel race carWithin Motorsport, Dymola offers racing teams the opportunity to create a single common engineering model that is reused across the organisation.

The model can include all the required details about the car and can be deployed in to trackside tools, HIL test rigs, driving simulators, in fact, anywhere that needs a model of the car. By reusing the model in this way, Formula 1 teams are currently reducing the duplication of modelling effort and using the time saved to focus on optimising the cars performance.

Hybrids
NAIGT Hybrid vehicle technology roadmapWith Hybrid vehicles becoming the standard for the next generation of vehicles, manufacturers are having to review their Systems Engineering capabilities to support these incredibly complex, multi-domain systems.

Dymola is being deployed by many manufacturers to support the development of Hybrid vehicles because it allows the complete vehicle to be simulated in one tool. We can include the powertrain, electrical, thermal and control systems to enable the behaviour of the complete system to be understood and optimised.
